While at Bradford Lawton, LLC Zavala worked extensively on the papel picado illustrations, which were applied to environmental graphics, architectural embellishments, and packaging adorning many elements in the Taco Cabana restaurant chain rebranding. Papel picados are a traditional Mexican art form of cut paper. Traditional motifs, such as the sun, the moon, plants, and animals, have been applied as subject matter. In the architectural applications here the designs are water jet cut out of aluminium.

Zavala developed ideas through to final artwork for signage, vinyl murals, wayfinding, vehicle wraps, and out-of-home billboards. The designs were applied to the salsa bar, back-lit drink displays, and catering vehicles, to name a few instances.
